Women and wine: Aussie drinking trends

Wine turns out to be the most popular alcoholic beverage in Australia in 2015 – thanks to the number of Aussie women who drink it, says new data. While 37.6 per cent of Australian adults drank beer in any given four-week period last year, 45.1 per cent drank wine, according to Roy Morgan Research. In 2015, 4.6 million Australian women aged 18 and above (almost half of the adult female population) drank some kind of wine – white, red, sparkling and/or fortified – in an average four weeks, compared to 3.7 million of men (41.2 per cent ).
